Possibly, they all would've all self-deported; the idea simply hadn't occurred... Probably not though, as many immigrants have put their stock in life here: bought homes, formed families with U.S. citizens, and found jobs. I met a girl from Sudan who didn't even speak her native language... English was her second language; French was her first. She'd spent her early childhood in a refugee camp in France... So, suppose she decides to 'self-deport' back to Sudan... she faces the same problems that caused her family to leave and new challenges with the language barrier.
